This outstanding trek begins with a drive down the Indus River from Leh to visit the ancient and spectacularly sited Lamayuru monastery. We then trek through villages and nomadic settlements in the beautiful and little known Ripcher Valley. The trail crosses several passes with excellent views of the Karakorum and Zanskar Mountains before descending to and crossing the Zanskar River. From here we enter the transcendent wonderland of the Markha and Nimaling Valleys before arriving back on the Indus at Martselang. The highest trek elevation is the 16,900 foot Kongmaru La above Nimaling meadows.

Itinerary:

Day 1:                       
Arrive Delhi in early morning and transfer to hotel

Day 2:                       
Fly to Leh, transfer to hotel

Day 3:                       
Rest, acclimatization walk in Leh

Day 4:                       
Sightseeing, visit Leh Palace and main monastery

Day 5:                       
Visit Lamayuru Monastery and begin the trek


Day 6-15:                     
 On trek ending in Martselang; return to Leh

Day 16:                       
Relax in Leh

Day 17:                       
 Fly to Delhi, overnight at hotel

Day 18:                       
Relax in Delhi

Day 19:                       
 International departure

The land cost includes a western or local tour guide, monastery entrance fees, airport transfers in India, round trip Delhi - Leh domestic flights, hotels in Delhi and Leh, and all meals while in Leh and on trek. A single supplement is $300. Not included are international airfare, visa fees, international airport departure taxes, trip insurance, and items of a personal nature.
